HD DVD Death

According to Japanese broadcasting network NHK, Toshiba will be announcing it’s plans to stop production of HD-DVD hardware and software early this week. This does not come as a surprise following the announcement that Wall-Mart and Netflix will stop carrying HD-DVD movies in the coming months.

Unfortunately, the retailers and the studios ended up deciding what the consumer wanted instead of the consumer himself. At least the format “war” did not last as long as the “Betamax vs VHS” war of the earlie 80s.

Now we only have to wait a few months for Blu-Ray players to become more affordable.
